Company ProfileVictorian Highlands Logging Company was established in 1986 by Darryl Bates as a logging company engaged in harvesting timber from the 1939 regrowth mountain ash forests in the central highlands of Victoria. Darryl observed current practices while working his bulldozer and team of men and decided that things could be more efficient. He set about designing and making himself a log grapple, and found it to be a much more efficient, being quicker and safer, so much so, that other contractors asked him to build them one. Thus the development of Victorian Highlands Logging Company and the eventual full time occupation of designing and building strong practical attachments for the forestry industry. VHLC now employs several qualified and skilled personnel with an extensive and diverse range of experience that compliment each other. Computerised procedures have been developed as the company has grown, and networked so that resources are available to all staff involved. Darryl believes that his company is now positioned to provide a range of quality attachments that are becoming increasingly required by industry leaders.
